Conversations with History

Influenced by Baroque art, this body of work explores notions of drama, excess, balance and embellishment, evincing a post-modern, antipodean, amused comment on the veiled lust and pervasive sense of importance and entitlement of protagonists and subjects of much of the artistic canon. The baroque formality is contrasted with loose, abstract and free forms and rules of contemporary life, and all is delivered with an unashamedly feminine mien, presenting an abstract conflation of drama and mashed up memory of works by artists influential to my practice.
