Large sculpture models

Exploring Excess, Embellishment and Drama, human freedom and controlling structures, my sculptures also explore material tension, balance and surrender.

In Then Now & Next, works in colourful, patterned paper decorations were sourced from on-line behemoths such as Temu and Ali Express, commenting on the excess of transporting cheap, frivolous goods thousands of kms from China to Australia. The installation is fragile, made of single use items which are readily available locally, and that mark the passing of time. Although ephemeral, they are re-imagined as dramatic and important, long-lasting and having gravitas: the paper tigers of the art historical canon.

In Leitmotif, the personal symbol of the knot or gestural line to indicate humans is superimposed with frivolous patterns, sourced from the excess clothing sold as rags by Op Shop retailers, here made permanent in materials used by automobile manufacturers.
