Gabrielle Jones is an Australian abstract artist with an expansive exhibition history spanning 24 years including 26 solo shows.
In 2024, Gabrielle won the University of Southern Queensland Biennial $30,000 Acquisitive Art Prize.
Her work was chosen for the cover of the 2023 International edition of the award-winning book, “Abstract Painting”, by Amber Creswell Bell, published by Thames and Hudson, with an eight page in-depth survey and in 2011, Gabrielle was the Drawing Instructor for the Sydney Biennale.
Gabrielle has been awarded a NSW Government “Create” Artist Grant and the William Fletcher Trust Grant and has been a finalist in prestigious painting and drawing Art Prizes across Australia, including the Kedumba, Fishers Ghost and Rick Amor Drawing Prizes, and multiple times in the Mosman, Muswellbrook, KAAF, Duke Gold Coast and Fishers Ghost Painting Prizes.
She has held two solo exhibitions at Grefti Cultural Projects in Italy; and exhibited solo shows at Goulburn, Muswellbrook and Gosford Regional Galleries, and in New York, Rome and Papeete, Tahiti. She will be showing a solo exhibition at Noosa Regional Gallery in Feb-April, 2027
Jones’s practice has seen her complete artist residencies abroad in Spain, Canada and Tahiti, as well as at the prestigious Bundanon Trust (Arthur Boyd’s property) and the Tweed Regional Gallery. Her paintings have appeared in two juried publications in USA (and cover image) and UK in 2017 and2018.
Gabrielle’s work has been collected across public Australian institutions (Muswellbrook, Bundanon, St George and Ku-Ring_Gai Hospitals), as well as internationally by Fundacion Valparaiso, Spain and Art Scape Organisation, Toronto, and is held in private collections in Australia, London, New York, Italy, Spain, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Tahiti.
