Lockdown Series
In these paintings and drawings, I am seeking new forms that will evince a sensual delight to be reflected upon at length, a conversation between the work and the viewer, and forms that ultimately carry a very human, emotional weight.
Made in and out of lockdown, these artworks symbolise the widespread desire for release from structures and confinement imposed under protective orders and the absolute joy found in small freedoms. As sensuous experiences were something we yearned for in isolation, I have exaggerated textures, colour and patterns, by interweaving the tactile surfaces of sections of painted canvas in layers.
