Abstract Drawings

These drawings were made as part of my exploration into the phenomenon of “Pareidolia” – where the mind perceives a pattern though none actually exists.

In this body of experimental work, I was creating random marks, trying to push my mind, my hand and the medium of charcoal. Many of the works elicit a landscape which is, in fact, nowhere.

My interest stems from the belief that mark-making is the cell upon which good art is based. It gives us the sense of touch that epitomises the human and individual quality of the art I like to look at, and expresses a certain poetry seen by the eye of the artist.
