NWW (New Work Wednesday) – more small paintings

Here’s some more small paintings I’ve been working on. Something about being able to hold them in my hand, reminds me of the saying “little treasures”. I enjoy working on these with oversized brushes and in a series, so that anything goes. It breaks up my routine and the sheer physicality of making my large paintings. I’m not sure I could keep doing large paintings without the break of these little beauties. They also serve to allow more play and experimentation -having taken away the size problem and allowing manipulation in my hands. They often form the basis of larger works which may appear some time after creating these.

I think they would look best on a wall in groups, don’t you?
