Installation and Opening night photos – Walcha Gallery Exhibition

I have to say, the Gallery looked fabulous! The Gallery Director, Carley, hung the paintings beautifully – I honestly couldn’t have asked for better. She picked up the run of work much as I would have, seeing connections and groupings that enhanced each other and told a story. Something some gallerists and curators miss. The crowd that made it after a week of very poor weather was interesting and representative of the small town of Walcha – a mixture of pastoralists, academics, artists, writers and educated appreciators! Some had come from Armidale – about 40minutes away, and the numbers put some Sydney openings to shame! It’s a pretty special, perhaps unique country town.

Here’s some pics – you’ll notice some red dots – six in all at the end of the opening night! Pretty happy with that, since I am unknown in the area, and a testimony to the regard in which this gallery and its Director are held within the community.

The work will be on exhibition for at least a month and you can see the works in more detail in the on-line catalogue here.

There are a couple of paintings I can see in your photos that are knockouts.
    Best wishes.
